Say hello to the ARKLET packable musette bag!
Named after one of my favourite views from a bike, from a passing place that over looks Loch Arklet under the watchful peaks of the Arrochar Alps. The inspiration for this bag is less romantic.
When I don’t need to fill a huge 24L Messenger bag for riding about town, I often opt for a sling or a small messenger bag to hold a D lock, keys and an iPad. Travelling light is amazing, until you want to stop off at the shops on your way home and you’re beholden to the space in whatever bag you’ve grabbed, or the times you’ve taken ‘Ultralight’ a little too seriously on a Bikepacking trip and you’d just like a little extra space to carry a resupply to camp without strapping things to the bike, or stuffing things down your jersey.
The Arklet is larger than a lot of musettes and features a sternum stability strap to stop the bag swaying around when on the bike. The straps are all adjustable so you can customise the fit to your ergonomics or wear across the body or on the shoulder like a tote. The straps all detach so you can swap them around to wear the bag over either shoulder without losing the usability of the sternum strap. The best part is that it all folds away into its own cute little carry pouch (that unintentionally reminds me of Admiral Akbar of Star Wars fame).
